The term of office of fellows on council (except Vice President, Division of Surgeons) will end at the middle of April 2012.

At the colloquium of the 2011 AGSM Fellows assembled agreed to Council’s proposal that elections should be held immediately following the March 2012 Examinations scheduled for 12 – 15 March 2012.

The elections will therefore be held on 15^th March 2012 at exactly 2: 00pm

The positions available are:

• Vice President, Division of Physicians
• Two (2) Fellows from the Division of Surgeons
• Two (2) Fellows from the Division of Physicians.

Conditions for the Election

• A candidate must be a fellow belonging to the division and in good standing.
• A candidate must be nominated by three (3) Fellows of the division in good standing (Download form here GCPS Nomination-Form)
• A candidate must sign the nomination form, accepting the nomination

Nominations must reach the office of the Administrative Manager not later than 9:00 am on Tuesday 28^th February 2012

Prospective candidates for the above positions should send the following to the College:

• Name, address, experience and current appointment
• Mission and Vision Statement in not more than one hundred and fifty words.
• A current passport size photograph (4 copies)

No candidate shall canvass for votes directly or indirectly for any office in the College, except as may be expressly permitted by Council

The Executive Board of the College at its meeting in April 2011 approved the following for doctors holding the Membership qualification of the College.

1. Participate in the deliberations of the Annual General and Scientific Meeting; and  join the procession during the Opening Ceremony in the appropriate gown
2. Pay annual dues at 50% of Fellows’ dues.  (currently Fellows’ dues stand at GH¢40)
3. Senior Residents may have representation on Faculty Boards but will have no voting rights
4. In general Members will not have voting rights on College-wide decisions
5. Representation of residents on the College Council remains as enshrined in Act 635 (2003)
