The Council of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons hereby announces that the post of Rector of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (GCPS) is vacant and a new Rector is sought. The GCPS was established in 2003 by an act of Parliament, Act 635 as a Postgraduate Medical College. The Position · The Rector is the academic and administrative head of the College and is accountable to Council. · The Rector is responsible for the promotion of quality postgraduate medical education and research and the provision of academic and administrative leadership. The Rector should be capable of meeting challenges posed by inadequate resources and growth in trainee population. The Person · The Rector must be a distinguished medical/dental scholar of Professorial rank. · Must be a Fellow of the GCPS in good standing. · Must possess excellent inter-personal and communication skills, and must be a team player. · Must have good business sense and the ability to manage resources to achieve set goals. · Must have exceptional fund raising ability. Terms of Appointment · The Terms and Conditions of Service for the Rector shall be determined by the College Council consistent with the College’s Act. · Salary and fringe benefits attached to the post are attractive. Application Candidates are to submit an application letter to which should be attached the following: (i) Curriculum Vitae, including names and addresses of three (3) referees who can attest to the qualities sought. (ii) A short vision and mission statement outlining how the applicant would respond to the needs and future direction of the College.
